To provide training and mentoring in the field of implementation science to Ugandan scholars and establish an ImS training site at Makerere University School of Medicine for Uganda and other institutions in Africa.

Mission

To build Implementation Science Capacity at Makerere University.

Objectives

1) To strengthen the scientific leadership and expertise needed for implementation science research at Makerere University (MaK).

2) To expand the breadth of training in ImS implementation science research at MaK.

3) To optimize utilization of resources for training by leveraging the additional available resources in Uganda (including projects funded by the NIH, European and Developing Country Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) and the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

4) To strengthen trainee contributions to evidence-based decision-making related to HIV prevention, care and treatment services.

5) To support the integration of ImS trainees into Ugandan academic, research, policy and HIV implementing institutions.
