A consortium of institutions including; Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC), Makerere University, Uganda Heart Institute, Ministry of Health-Uganda, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine are implementing the project. The European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) funds this project. It is designed to improve health outcomes among HIV-infected persons, specifically reduction in hypertension-related morbidity and mortality. This is one of the several implementation Science projects that have been conducted in Southwestern Uganda. This workshop was to introduce Implementation Science to Health workers from facilities supporting our study teams on several projects being implemented by the IDRC in Southwestern Uganda. It was paramount to share concepts of this type of research with key partners, especially in the areas where such studies are being implemented.
This meeting was attended by District Health Officers, distric-t HIV focal persons, health facility in-charges, and HIV clinic in-charges from two health centers in each district participating in the Integrated HIV/HTN project.
